Brief Biography

Irma Rebeca Andalón received her M.S. in Information Systems from theUniversity of Guadalajara, Mexico, and her B.S. in Mathematics with a specialty in Computer Science from theUniversity of Guadalajara.

 

PhD Thesis

 
Title: "Knowledge generation and algorithm optimization for the area of Bioinformatics through the use of parallel programming techniques, pattern recognition and machine learning".

Research line:  Modeling & Simulation.

  

Abstract. The aim of this work is to contribute in the Bioinformatics field by developing optimized algorithms, with an emphasis on sequence alignment algorithms, in order to build knowledge. To achieve this goal, this research is based primarily on the study and application of parallel programming techniques through the use of the Message Passing Interface (MPI) standard, which is designed to exploit the existence of multiple processors in concurrent programming. In addition, evolutionary algorithms and optimization strategies will be applied in order to achieve the goal.
